Offer 1 with catalog number 4003546ENW for working students in the 2nd semester at a (E) Master - advanced level.
'Psychological assessment children and adolescents' addresses the theoretical and conceptual underpinnings along with the application of the assessment of the child in its context. Students learn to assess the child and its family through various modalities (e.g., interactive sessions, exercices and/or portfolio). This includes test taking, scoring and interpreting, live or digital a.o. depending on the sanitary situation. Students also learn to critically assess the clinician’s own feelings, thoughts and actions throughout the assessment process.
The subject is discussed according to the FACE©-model (Facilitating Adjustment of Cognition and Emotion, see handbooks) and the FACE©-method , an evidence-based conceptual and methodological framework to specifically monitor the prescribed quality guidelines for the assessment of youth :
- comprehensively map the risk and resiliency load of interacting individual, family, contextual and (multi)cultural influences on a macro-level,
- understand recriprocal adjustments of child, parenting and family cognitive control and emotion regulation processes on a micro-level,
- devise insightful problem solving and resiliency oriented diagnostic responses,
- competently address sociocultural, deontological and/or ethical questions at hand.
Specifically, students analyse and train in the different developmental domains covered by the FACE©-model along with their operationalization in (Dutch language) assessment procedures and instruments.
Through these means, students integrate in this course theory-grounded, evidence-based diagnostic knowledge and application for the assessment of children and adolescents.
See digital learning platform for further information on course planning, guidelines and deadlines for the semester at hand.
