For this course, several reference books are suggested.
Hand-outs, syllabi and slides will be provided on PointCarré.
Students who have completed the course, know the normal functioning of the human body (cells, tissues and organs). They know the functions of the various tissues and organs. They have knowledge and understanding of the integrated functioning of tissues and organs in the human body and the systems that underlie it. They know the mechanisms that form the basis of malfunctioning and can thus explain pathological situations. They can make connections between a deviation and the action that will be given by an organ / body.
They can apply this knowledge to explain and solve clinical problems.
The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Oral Exam determines 100% of the final mark.
Within the Oral Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:
Evaluation
The exam is an oral exam. The examination covers the material taught during the lectures and assesses the knowledge and understanding of the subject matter. The use of reference works is not allowed. Each part is questioned by the lecturer responsible for that part and / or by the coordinator of the course.
It may be that the examination is spread over more than one day.
The total point for the exam is the weighted average of the partial scores. The weight of each part depends on the number of course hours of each part. To obtain a credit, the total point (weighted average) must be ≥ 10/20. Moreover, the score on each part must be ≥ 8/20. If the score on a part is <8/20, the final point is max 8/10 and thus no credit will be awarded. Absence from an exam component leads to a mark of 0 on this component.
Before the final grade is disclosed, the lecturers will hold an internal deliberation, and they may deviate from these rules.
Partial exemption can be given for the 2nd session for parts with a score of ≥ 10/20 AND the total score (weighted average) for the exam was ≥ 12/20. The student who wishes to make use of this, sends an email to the lecturer, at the latest before the start of the 2nd session.
Scores are not transferable to the next year if no credit for the entire course was obtained.
The exam in the 2nd session is organized as in the 1st session.
