Course Content

Discussion of the diagnosis, treatment, prevention and prognosis of diseases mentioned in level expert plus.  

The ASO is more extensively and theoretically instructed in a broad array of domains within the specialism, necessary for the applications in practice that are dealt with during internships and relate to the final objectives as defined under “physician” level expert plus.

WORKING METHODS 

  • Attend daily change of shifts 

  • Interactive seminars, organized in the domain of the internship (at least 1x 1h per week), weekly postgraduate sessions of the department of pediatrics on Wednesday and Friday 

  • The ASO should give at least 2 presentations (1 clinical, 1 research) at the Wednesday noon training each academic year 

  • LOK: 4x/year half a day of local quality groups (LOK is a group of physician colleagues who share and critically evaluate their practices to improve health care quality) 

  • Journal clubs: 1x/week 1h of Journal clubs in pediatrics 

  • Postgraduate Pediatrician meetings, organized by the 7 Belgian universities: gastro-enterology and neonatology colleges 

  • Attendance in at least 70% of the meetings is required (daily change of shifts not included)

  • Portfolio with a relative weight of 100 which comprises 100% of the final mark.
