Course Content

Practicum:
- Dissection of the entire spinal region,open spinal canal and temporomandibualr joint. Special attention is given to three-dimensional insight, tissue properties, the relationship between the different anatomical components, and anatomical variants.
- Demonstrations and observations of anatomical variants  with discussion about a possible clinical relevance of morphological inter-individual differences.

Learning Outcomes

General competencies

- The student has gained detailed knowledge and insights concerning the anatomy and biomechanics of the thoracic and cervical spine.
- The student is able to implement this knowledge and insights for clinical and research purposes related to manual therapy,
- The student is able to retrieve, to consult and to interpret international scientific literature, related to thoracic and cervical spine anatomy and biomechanics, in order to implement innovative outcomes into manual therapy practice and manual therapy research.

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Oral Exam determines 100% of the final mark.

Within the Oral Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Mondeling examen with a relative weight of 1 which comprises 100% of the final mark.

    Note: Mondeling examen met schriftelijke voorbereiding, waarbij aan de hand van een synthesevraag anatomie en een synthesevraag aanvullende biomechanica wordt nagegaan in welke mate verdiepte kennis en inzicht aanwezig zijn m.b.t. de anatomie en biomechanica van de thoracale en cervicale wervelkolom. Voor de theorie en voor de praktijk wordt respectievelijk op 10 punten gescoord. Indien echter op één van de beide onderdelen een ernstig tekort wordt vastgesteld, wordt voor het geheel een onvoldoend cijfer genoteerd.
