Inhoud

The course Master Thesis Partim I depends on an individual project on a current topic in chemistry research. It consists of two parts:

  1. Scientific literature study, in which the research question of the project is framed with contemporary scientific literature while a first research plan is elaborated.

  1. Preliminary research, in which an initial set of results is obtained on the basis of an extensive introduction to research methodology, experimental working environment and / or relevant equipment for testing the research plan.

Both parts are translated into a report in which, based on literature study and the preliminary results, a detailed research plan is proposed for the completion of Master Thesis Partim II. This plan includes an indication of work packages, risks and possible alternatives, and the proposed timing. The concrete modalities of the Master Thesis Partim I course unit are communicated to the Examination Board at the start of the academic year. The evaluation is performed by a jury composed of 4 members; the score of each evaluator is 25 % of the total score.  The jury members are two fixed members who evaluate all reports, the promotor and an (external) specialist jury member.
