Learning Outcomes

General competences

The student can describe and explain the developments in modern logic and in the philosophy of science from the 20th century onwards. The student can demonstrate the relevance of logic to philosophy of science.
The student can handle the basic logical systems in a practical way. The student is able to analyse the problems surrounding the question of what a scientific method may be.

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Written Exam determines 100% of the final mark.

Within the Written Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Written exam with a relative weight of 100 which comprises 100% of the final mark.

Additional info regarding evaluation

The exam is EXCLUSIVELY written, but 'open-book'. This means that all materials can be used: course text, solved exercises, personal notes, ... In order to consult these materials, the use of specific electronic devices, namely laptops and tablets, is allowed, but only if they remain off line (airplane mode). Smartphones are excluded. Examples of exams can be found in the Zelfstudiecentrum van de Humane Wetenschappen and on Canvas.
