This course aims at providing insight into descriptive and inferential statistics. After following this course, the student should be able to understand, perform, report and interpret parametric and non-parametric statistical analyses.
Presence in the lectures (HOC) and practical sessions (WPO) is not a requirement to be admitted to the exam.
Passing other courses such as Research methodology and statistics in rehabilitation sciences 1, Research methodology and statistics in rehabilitation sciences 3, Master’s thesis in rehabilitation sciences part 1 and/or Master’s thesis in rehabilitation sciences part 2 does not imply that the student acquired the learning outcomes for Research methodology and statistics in rehabilitation sciences 2.
In this course general research skills are further developed in order to independently analyse, interpret and report collected data in preparation of the masters thesis.
Students:
- are able to understand and critically analyse the methodology and statistics used in a research report in the research domain of revalidation sciences and physiotherapy.
- are able to describe and explain simple (chi-square, correlation, t-tests, ANOVA) and complex (multiple regression, 2-way ANOVA, ANCOVA, Repeated Measures ANOVA, factor analysis) quantitative statistical methods.
- are able to independently formulate research questions in the research domain of revalidation sciences and physiotherapy based on a complex data file.
- are able to select and apply the appropriate statistical technique to answer a research question in the research domain of revalidation sciences and physiotherapy.
- are able to interpret, evaluate and report the results of the statistical analyses and to answer research questions in the research domain of revalidation sciences and physiotherapy.
The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Written Exam determines 50% of the final mark.
