Course Content

The student does an internship in a non-clinical setting spread over 2 semesters, depending on the time frame of the internship site. In addition to the hours of observation, supervision and clinical internship in the bachelor program and the in-depth clinical internships in 1MARE (hospital, primary kine practice, rehabilitation center, WZC, ...), the students are immersed in the broader (non-clinical) field of work of the physiotherapist in this part of the program.

Within this expansive internship, students can develop their competencies more broadly, for example with a focus on inclusion, management, research, education, global citizenship and diversity (international/intercultural component), sustainability, development contexts/global health, ethics and policy ...

Additional info

The link to the elective from 1 MARE and therefore development of thematic orientations (4 ECTS internship + 3 ECTS elective) form the theoretical framework for this internship and are thus very close to the content of the internship.

Learning Outcomes

General competencies

With this course unit we want students to develop their competencies (profession-wide) with a focus on inclusion, interprofessionalism, management, research, education, world citizenship and diversity, sustainability, development contexts/global health, ethics and policy and/or internationalization/interculturalism (metropolitan context).

Students gain a broader education and understanding of the social relevance of their education, their own place in health care and possible future roles in the (non-clinical) professional field.

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
SELF Internship determines 100% of the final mark.

Within the SELF Internship category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Stage with a relative weight of 1 which comprises 100% of the final mark.
