An introductory overview will be given of the main theories, basic principles and research findings in the different subfields of psychology.
1. THEORY
Examples of topics that can be covered are: what is psychology, conditioning and learning, motivation and emotion, intelligence, personality, perception and attention, memory, and psychopathology.

The student is required to
1. have knowledge of the historical developments that gave rise to the field of contemporary academic psychology
2. explain the basic principles, main theories and research findings of the different subfields in psychology
3. have a clear understanding of the research methods applied in academic psychology
4. critically reflect on psychology as a scientific discipline
The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Written Exam determines 100% of the final mark.
Within the Written Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:
1st and 2nd examination period: Written Exam determines 100% of the final mark.
Within the Written Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:
Written exam mulitple choice with a relative weight of 100 which comprises 100% of the final mark.
The multiple choice exam will be graded by positive scoring with Higher Pass Mark.
