Course Content

This course focuses on the topic "Ethics of representation in the arts". We start from the following question: How to represent or give a voice to 'the other'? We investigate which social and human view is voiced by a certain representation, what the blind spots are and how the viewer perceives this. We make use of scientific literature from various fields.

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Oral Exam determines 50% of the final mark.
Other determines 50% of the final mark.

Within the Oral Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

Additional info regarding evaluation

Being absent on at least one of the obligatory exam parts results in 'absence' for the total score.

Each part (paper and oral exam) counts for 50% of the final score, but only if you achieve a score of 10/20 on each part. When you have less than 10/20 on one of the two parts, the lowest score applies as your final score. This is to avoid excessive imbalance in knowledge and skills.

Allowed unsatisfactory mark
The supplementary Teaching and Examination Regulations of your faculty stipulate whether an allowed unsatisfactory mark for this programme unit is permitted.
