Course Content

The course aims to develop a contemporary and scientifically informed view on arts education. More specifically, it zooms in on the museum experience, users and possibilities of use, and students gain insights into conceptual and practical implications. In the practice of an agoog, the contemporary art experience provides a good basis for having substantive conversations. Students are not expected to have prior knowledge of the contemporary art scene. As a result, they often become test subjects themselves. Case studies and site visits are integrated to move from theory to practice. Students incorporate these insights by designing and mediating arts education activities. In this way, students develop into cultural mediators where they form the bridge between the artist(s) and the audience to support interpretation, enjoyment and well-being.

Additional info regarding evaluation

Students must obtain an overall average of at least 10/20 for all components to pass this course. If you have a passing grade for one of the two components, but the average of all components is not at least 10/20, you may take the partial grade you passed in the first exam period to the second exam period and therefore do not have to retake it.

In the second exam period, the assignment is replaced by an alternative assignment.

Absence on at least one of the obligatory exam parts (oral exam and assignment) leads to absence for the complete grade.

The partial results of the separate course parts are not transferable to the next academic year.

Allowed unsatisfactory mark
The supplementary Teaching and Examination Regulations of your faculty stipulate whether an allowed unsatisfactory mark for this programme unit is permitted.
