The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Written Exam determines 100% of the final mark.
Within the Written Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:
Pre-test mathematics: All students are obliged to participate in the pre-test mathematics (1st week of the academic year, see timetable). The pre-test deals with subject matter representative of mathematics from an ASO department of 4 hours/week. The pre-test deals with 2 times 10 questions. The first package consists of 10 basic questions generic to each secondary education department, while the other 10 questions assess specific learning objectives from a secondary education department of at least 4 hours of mathematics per week. One must get at least 10/20 to pass. If the student passes, the student is exempted for the math skills component. If the student does not pass, the student is obliged to follow the extra tutorial on math skills of 6x3h. Attendance at the tutorials arithmetic skills is mandatory. In case of legitimate absence, the missed session will be made up in writing. Complete completion of the tutorials arithmetic skills is a mandatory requirement to gain access to the exam in session 1 (January) and session 2 (September).
1st session:
A written interim evaluation (4 questions) is organized (around week 7). Participation in this interim evaluation is mandatory. Mid-term evaluation evaluates the subject matter on chapters 1 - 3.
The final grade is calculated as follows:
- 20% result written interim evaluation
- 80% result written exam
If the student passes the interim evaluation, the student is exempted for chapters 1-3 for the January examination period. 6 questions are asked, 2 of which relate to the subject matter of chapters 1-3, while the other 4 questions deal with chapters 4-6.
If the student passes the interim evaluation, the student must only solve the questions about chapters 4-6 for the written exam.
Attention: Participation in the exam in session 1 is only possible if all tutorials on math skills have been followed or have been made up in case of legitimate absence. In case of incomplete completion of the maths tutorials, the final mark for the exam is "Absent"!
2nd session:
Written exam 100%. The written exam second session deals with 6 questions about chapters 1 - 6. All students who are postponed to the second session solve questions about all chapters of the course. The result of the mid-term evaluation is not applicable.
Attention: Participation in the exam in session 1 is only possible if all tutorials on math skills have been followed or have been made up in case of legitimate absence. In case of incomplete completion of the maths tutorials, the final mark for the exam is "Absent"!
