Offer 1 with catalog number 4005939FNR for all students in the 1st and 2nd semester at a (F) Master - specialised level.
Any topic is potentially acceptable as long as it offers a real contribution to molecular biology. Priority is given to topics closely related to the student’s future work. Given the wide variety of possible research topics, the student is free to choose any lab, which not necessarily has to belong to one of the three partner universities. At the end of the first year, the students get an exhaustive list of research topics that can be used for a dissertation.
The topic of the dissertation has to be approved by the Director and Scientific-Administrative Coordinator of the programme.
Early May, students have to submit a first draft of the literature survey related to the topic of their dissertation. They make a power point presentation of the survey and present it to their class mates, who can ask questions and make suggestions for improvement . Attendance of the presentations is compulsory but no marks are given.
One week before the public defense, mock defenses are organised were students are further trained to present and defend their work. Presentations are in front of the class mates and should be timed not to last longer than 20 minutes. Attendance is compulsory, but no marks are given.
Students can plan and perform experiments and critically interpret the results obtained. . They are able to report both orally and in written, prepare powerpoint presentations and retrieve and summarize literature data. They can discuss their results obtained in the context of existing litarature.They can present their work in public and answer questions from a jury and the audience.
The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
