Studenten die ingeschreven zijn in een verkort traject kunnen dit opleidingsonderdeel opnemen. LET OP: inschrijven voor dit vak is enkel mogelijk voor werkstudenten. Dagstudenten kunnen registreren voor vakken waarvan de code eindigt op een R. Bij Inschrijvingen/ studentenadministratie@vub.be moet je ingeschreven zijn aan de VUB als werkstudent voor het huidige academiejaar.

Inhoud

This course delves into the realm of social and interpersonal relationships, covering a diverse range of topics including aggressive and prosocial behavior, intimate relationships, emotions, social influence, and cooperation and conflict between people.

Structured into two main components, the course encompasses:

Lectures (HOC): These classes will unpack the core themes, including concepts, theories, research findings, and practical applications. Students are encouraged to engage in discussions and pose questions to deepen their understanding of the material.
Practical Teamwork (WPO): This aspect involves an oral presentation and a written report that delves into a specific course topic in depth. Groups will critically analyze a real-life scenario demonstrating "social psychology in everyday life". Moreover, groups will incorporate a recent evidence-based finding not covered in the lectures, promoting co-creation and exploration of emerging research in the field.

Mandatory attendance: on your own presentation day (WPO)

The multiple-choice exam will be graded using a positive scoring system with a higher pass mark. Therefore, there will be no deductions for incorrect answers.
In the practical teamwork, it is permitted to use generative AI only for translations and text improvement. Any use of generative AI should be properly referenced (see reference list AI).

Beoordelingsinformatie

De beoordeling bestaat uit volgende opdrachtcategorieën:
Examen Schriftelijk bepaalt 75% van het eindcijfer

WPO Groepswerk bepaalt 25% van het eindcijfer

Binnen de categorie Examen Schriftelijk dient men volgende opdrachten af te werken:

schriftelijk meerkeuze-examen met een wegingsfactor 1 en aldus 75% van het totale eindcijfer.

Toelichting: Het meerkeuze-examen zal gequoteerd worden door positieve scoring met Hogere Cesuur. Er worden dus géén punten afgetrokken voor een fout antwoord.

Binnen de categorie WPO Groepswerk dient men volgende opdrachten af te werken:

presentatie en verslag met een wegingsfactor 1 en aldus 25% van het totale eindcijfer.

Toelichting: Bij deze evaluatieopdracht is het toegestaan om alleen generatieve AI te gebruiken voor vertalingen en tekstverbetering. Elk gebruik van generatieve AI moet op een passende wijze worden herkend (zie referentielijst AI).

Aanvullende info mbt evaluatie

• Compulsory parts of the assessment: (a) the multiple-choice exam, and (b) the practical teamwork.
• Absence from a compulsory part of evaluation results into an “absent” for the entire course.
• To succeed for the course, students must pass on every course part. If you get a failing grade for one of the parts, you will receive the lowest partial grade as the final grade.
• The partial grade for which you succeeded in the first examination period can be transferred to the second examination period.
• The partial grade for which you succeeded in the previous academic year can be transferred to the following academic year, provided that the student applies for an exemption within two weeks of the first lecture.
• Peer evaluation: To individually grade students on the group assignment, we will use peer evaluation (mandatory). This means that students will evaluate themselves and their team members on a number of criteria, resulting in an adjustment factor. This adjustment factor will be used to individualize the grade received by the team on the group assignment, by multiplying the team grade by each team member's adjustment factor. When a student does not complete the peer evaluation by the given deadline, the course instructor can decide to deduct the maximum amount of points possible with the peer evaluation for that student. The course instructor has the final say in the application of the peer evaluation, and can decide to increase, decrease, or ignore the adjustment factor, if the peer evaluation scores appear unreliable. Such decisions will only be taken in exceptional cases, and will always be based on clear arguments, analyses, and/or a discussion with the involved students.
• Second examination period: All course parts will need to be done individually in the 2nd exam period, which also implies that there will be no peer evaluation. The written report needs to be handed in by the first Monday of the 2nd exam period before 12:00 (noon).
