Course Content

The course deals with accidents at work and occupational diseases and contains:

  1. A brief historical introduction explaining the foundations and raison d’être of the social protection branches relating to accidents at work and occupational diseases
  2. A detailed analyses of the concepts of accident at work and occupational disease, and of the rules governing entitlements
  3. The exclusion from the right to benefits in case of intentionally caused accidents and diseases and the employers’ (as well as their employees and mandatories) immunity from tort law claims.

Learning Outcomes

General competencies

By the end of the course, students:

  • will have acquired a thorough knowledge of the basic concepts, the foundations and limits of the branches of social protection against accidents at work and occupational diseases
  • will be able to apply the relevant legislation on concrete cases.

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Oral Exam determines 100% of the final mark.

Within the Oral Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Oral Exam with a relative weight of 1 which comprises 100% of the final mark.
