Offer 1 with catalog number 4008364FNR for all students in the 2nd semester at a (F) Master - specialised level.
This course will provide theoretical knowledge and insights in arterio-venous and lymphatic disorders, as well as learn the students the capacity to independently and analytical treat the pathologies, with which the student will be confronted in later professional life. For this purpose, at the beginning of the course, the anatomy of the arterio-venous and lymphatic system will be covered as basic knowledge. Afterwards, pathophysiology, diagnosis, incidence, prevalence, causes, complications, risk factors, legislation on reimbursement of pathologies in Belgium, relevant research projects, etc.. With respect to the treatment of pathologies, we work according to the ICF with Evidence Based Practice and Complex Physical Therapy will be taught theoretically and in practice. A case study within the domain of vascular pathology is part of the assignments for this course. There will be extra focus on (breast) cancer (rehabilitation) and its (lymphatic) complications.
All WPO classes require mandatory attendance and all assignments must be submitted correctly and on time according to the guidelines in order to pass this OO. Guidelines, deadlines and agreements are communicated via Canvas.

For group assignments, materials, and assignments, students must register on time and correctly according to the guidelines (communicated through Canvas). If a student fails to do so, they can no longer participate in the activity and this is considered an illegal absence. Late, substantiated assignment submissions will be assigned an adjustment factor of 0.5 to 0.7 (depending on the severity of the delay according to the deadline).
If you are unauthorized absent for more than one practical class, you will not be allowed to participate in the first and second session exams and you will receive a result code of 0/20 in both sessions.
In the case of a legitimate absence, the student may make up the absence via an extra WPO or substitute assignment. To do so, the student must submit proof of the legitimate absence to the faculty secretary and contact the titular within the week following the required class. If the student fails to do so, the absence will still be considered illegal.
Absences due to top-level sports activities of the students with top-level sports status must be coordinated at the beginning of the semester by the Top-Level Sport and Study Department in order to provide a possible alternative date of WPO or replacement assignment.
The partial result of an examination component will automatically be carried over to the second session if the result is at least 10/20. A student cannot waive the automatic transfer of the partial result. A partial result of an examination component cannot be transferred to the next academic year.
In case the student obtained a grade lower than 8/20 on a part, the weighted average is deviated and the lowest partial result counts as the examination result.
