Course Content

This course focuses on the potential of sport in relation to the personal and social development of specific vulnerable target groups (young people in a socially vulnerable position, the elderly and persons with disabilities). It focuses on 2 aspects: inclusion in sport (participation in sport) and inclusion through sport (sport as a means of development). The first aspect discusses sports participation figures and the thresholds that exist for vulnerable groups. The second aspect focuses on the conditions needed to use sport as a means of development. Besides theoretical insights into working with specific target groups, attention is also paid to policy-oriented aspects in relation to inclusion in and through sport for persons in a socially vulnerable position.
