Course Content

This academic unit will be taught in the form of workshops, which are each lead by an expert. A specific type of artefact will be considered in each workshop: e.g., ceramics (Prof. Dr. Karin Nys), prehistoric stone artefacts (Prof. Dr. Marc De Bie), historical building materials (Prof. Dr.Pieter Martens), metal artefacts (Dr. Pieterjan Deckers). In the ‘geology’ workshop, the students get acquainted with the different types of raw materials from which artefacts can be made (Prof. Dr. Steven Goderis). Finally, they will learn how  to create and use a relational database, how to make a scientific/technical drawing of artefacts and how to photograph them (Prof. Dr. Karin Nys with the assistance of dra Melissa Samaes).
