Course Content
The course introduction gives an overview of  some demographical parameters, and the societal and mondial impact of an ageing society.  A brief overview is given of policy-oriented research with concern to the socio-economical level of the society. This course addresses also the social profiling of the elderly and some macro-concerns with regard to the ageing of the population.  The main legislative prescriptions are addressed (vb ‘protocolakkoorden’, decree about home care, elderly nursing homes, care insurance, investments trust,….) . In reading this legislatives attention is specially paid to the main concerns and aims the legislator wants to be realised in the organisation of the elderly care and policies.

General competencies

After following and studying this course, we expect the student:

* to know the main legally and administrative prescriptions concerning the elderly-policies and elderly welfare facilities. (federal and regional level)

* to get acquainted with the underlying processes and the organisation principles concerning the elderly care, the global elderly policies and the ageing of the society.

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Oral Exam determines 100% of the final mark.

Within the Oral Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • mondeling examen with a relative weight of 1 which comprises 100% of the final mark.
