Teaching modalities:
- lectures with possibility of debate and discussion of documentation;
- demonstration of different scales
The course discusses the definition of 'health', as broadly defined by the WHO, which gives a prominent role not only to the concept of 'disease' but also to the social, psychic and physical functioning. The importance of "multidisciplinary assessment" is emphasised. The most important validated and internationally used scales are discussed in order to perform these evaluations: social situation, general health, behaviour, cognition, daily activities, physical condition (i.e. mobility, decubitus prevention, nutrition situation, etc.), problems of care, general situation. Scales relevant for practice in Belgium andneighbouring countries are highlighted.
The studied material is provided in the form of tables and figures via CANVAS.

Being able to:
- discuss the practical application of the various evaluation scales;
- use the most common scales (e.g. Mini Mental State evaluation);
- critically judge a scale;
- interpret the outcome of a scale-based evaluation.

Other Exam determines 100% of the final mark.
Within the Other Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:
Evaluation consists of papers for 100%. 4 assignments are required. Papers should be submitted digital (Point Carré) and hard copy the first week of the examinaiton period (weak 18 and 50).
Students only succeed when succesful in at least 2 assignments of the 3 first (each of them accounting for 20% or the total) and when succesful in the last assignment (accounting for 40%).
