Course Content

- During their sports career, elite athletes pass several phases: not only on sportspecific level (from talented athlete, over elite athlete to former elite athlete) but also on psychological, psychosocial, academic and professional level. Because every developmental phase requires specific mental aspects, it is important that athletes can handle these mental requirements in a concrete and specific way in order to make progress both within every phase and from one phase to the other.

- The focus is put on the 5Cs framework representing the skills and qualities of Commitment, Communication, Concentration, Control and Confidence, exploring

the key behaviours in (young) athletes and players and introducing the range of strategies that coaches, parents and players can employ to develop the ‘C’ through their training and matches.

- The exercise part of this course consists of exercises made during as well as outside the lessons and which need to finalised and presented by each student in an individual work book.
