Internships consist of:
- Clinical internships (=300h)
Clinical practice internship (=100h)
Specialised sports rehabilitation internship (=140h)
Orthopaedic internship (=60h)
- Research internships (=50)
The above mentioned internships can be both national and international of content.
The student can consult the list of possible places for internships on the digital learning platform (CANVAS), where he/she can also find the current procedures for a "demand occasional internship" and the necessary documents for the internships. These files contain more information about the content of the different internships.

At the end of this course the student should be able to implement his knowledge concerning clinical reasoning and physical examination in clinical practice.
a) Clinical internship
The student is able to treat adequately and safely patients with acute, subacute or chronic sports injuries. More specifically the student is able to:
interpret clinical signs and symptoms and develop advanced skills in clinical reasoning.
interpret the limitations of functions and activities and make the link with the appropriate treatment.
acquire specialized skills in the interpretation of exercise tests, lung and heart function assessment, peripheral and respiratory muscle tests, assessment of physical activity and quality of life.
organise enhanced training in the set-up and management of exercise training programs in athletes with sportsinjuries.
Clinical monitoring of patients, recognize adequately symptoms and treat adequately risk stratification strategies.
treat and guide the individual patient through their physiotherapeutic rehabilitation program.
to develop and implement rehabilitation, training and prevention programmes for (injured) athletes
b) Research internship:
For the purpose of the part addressing the research internship, specific competences can be formulated for each working place for the student to be able to continue his self-development according to their interests related to sports physiotherapy.
The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
SELF Internship determines 100% of the final mark.
Within the SELF Internship category, the following assignments need to be completed:
Permanent assessment based on the final competences as formulated by the education using the reports from the internships, quotated exercises and portfolio.
The course titular is allowed to invite students to elaborate on their written portfolio. Details of the content of this portfolio are described in documents shared on CANVAS.
