The internship concept contains 2 mandatory parts:
Part 1: integration in geriatric rehabilitation team (volume = 225 hours = +/- 2 months full time, possibility to spread in part time)
The student has to integrate in a (multidisciplinary) geriatric rehabilitation team. Hereby the intention is to sharpen the competences with regard to caregiver/handler. During the assessment, in addition to clinical action, special attention will be paid to communicative skills (micro- and meso-level) and the attitude of the student. The student writes a report about the internship activities
Part 2: project-based evaluation of practical situations
The student has to observe and evaluate on a project basis 1 practice situation within geriatric rehabilitation. To this end, the student will assess the practice situation against the State-of-the-Art and formulate proposals regarding professional innovation. The student will write a written report including implementation strategy of professional innovation. The student will also communicate the findings and proposals for innovation and implementation strategy to the rehabilitation team involved in the form of a training event.
For both Part 1 and Part 2, the student must submit in advance a written application to the supervisor for approval consisting of the objectives (learning goals), place and contact persons, and personal motivation.

The purpose of this internship is to impart knowledge, insight, skills and attitude regarding the functioning of the geriatric rehabilitation specialist in various clinical settings. This focuses on the role of the geriatric physical therapist as provider/treatment specialist (within a multidisciplinary team).

PRAC Internship determines 50% of the final mark.

Part 1: The student is assessed by the on-site supervisor based on an evaluation form (60% of part 1). The supervisor gives an assessment based on the written report (20% of part 1) and a personal interview with the student (20% of part 1).
Part 2: The student is assessed by those present at the training session based on an evaluation form (40% of part 2). The supervisor gives an assessment based on the written report (40% of part 2) and a personal interview with the student (20% of part 2).
Distribution: part 1 = 50%, part 2 = 50%; the student must pass both parts in order to pass.
