Telling without pretending. On non-fiction

 

 

All classes will take place between 28 March - 1st April 2022.

The course will be held exclusively in Italian.

 

 

1.

What is non-fiction. The international context (new journalism, crossings between reportage and personal essay).

 

2.
The Italian case. Before non-fiction: the discovery of the South (Pasquale Villari, Matilde Serao and other southern writers) [this lecture should take place at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, in collaboration with professor Gigante]

 

 

3.
The traveling writer. How reports have changed in the last half century (Aldo Busi, Walter Siti, Sandro Veronesi)

 

 

4.
The writer in the editorial office. Investigations, crime news (Sergio Saviane, Leonardo Sciascia, Camilla Cederna, Antonio Franchini, Roberto Saviano, Alessandro Leogrande).

 

 

5.
An idea of Italy, from the post-war period to the present (Carlo Cassola, Goffredo Fofi, Franco Arminio, Edoardo Albinati)

 

 

6.
A summary reflection on the themes, the style and the contents of the Italian non-fiction of the last few years.
