Offer 1 with catalog number 6014465FNR for all students in the 1st and 2nd semester at a (F) Master - specialised level.
Study of clinically oriented and scientific evidence-based care of syndromes that are discussed in the internships and that relate to the attainment targets as defined under 'medicus' level 3.
The ASO must also function with increasing independence and complexity, based on a scientific basis. The scientific basis of these exercises is mainly but not exclusively the set of guidelines of the European Cardiology Association.
The management aspects of EBM are approached: guidelines, care paths, with attention to social relevance and impact on medical policy options. This requires basic knowledge of EBM, but also professional experience and competences. The aim is to critically interpret published guidelines. They must also learn to convert published guidelines into locally applicable guidelines
This section therefore deals with 'Learning to read articles'. For that reason, there are Journal Clubs every Thursday evening, with a mandatory attendance. Sometimes Journal Clubs are alternated with lessons on applied statistics (video conference).
There will also be a scientific meeting on Thursday afternoon. Sometimes staff members present a topic, sometimes there are external speakers. Every ASO in higher education proposes a scientific topic at least once a year (one hour meeting)
There is an inter-university meeting (Leuven, Ghent, Antwerp & Brussels) 4x per year. Location varies across the 4 faculties. Usually there is one or max 2 topics. Topics are discussed by the local staff members. Topics are however introduced by the ASOs on the basis of a presentation of their own case, often with a voting system
