A selection of literary texts and essays in German structure this overview. These texts are read and analyzed in close relation with their political and cultural context.
This course is exclusively taught in German from the start.
Students can download the two digital course books Kulturgeschichte des deutschen Sprachraums and Kultur- und Literaturgeschichte des deutschen Sprachraums via Canvas or they can buy a paper version at the VUB Standaard bookshop.
The students get an overview of the weekly course material at the beginning of each semester and have to read and prepare the indicated texts each week in advance. Each week, the lecturer provides questions in advance that have to be prepared in written form.
Background information is given by the lecturer during class and the students are urged to actively participate in the discussion of the texts.
