Course Content

Introduction to Spanish Studies: Literature. The course mainly consists of an historical survey of Spanish literature from the Golden Age to the twentieth century. In view of the extent of the subject matter, a selection of authors and works is made. Selected texts are analysed in class.

Learning Outcomes

General competencies

- The student can classify authors according to the correct period and link them to the characteristics of the period.

- Students are able to determine the thematic and formal characteristics of a series of literary works from a diachronic and synchronic point of view.

- The student can explain the historical development of Spanish literature and its main authors.

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Written Exam determines 70% of the final mark.
SELF Practical Assignment determines 30% of the final mark.

Within the Written Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Written Examination with a relative weight of 70 which comprises 70% of the final mark.

Within the SELF Practical Assignment category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Practical Assignments with a relative weight of 30 which comprises 30% of the final mark.

Partial grades of the SELF Practical Assignment can be transferred to a later exam session within the same academic year.
