Course Content

The course mainly consists of an historical survey of the Spanish American short story in the twentieth century. In view of the extent of the subject matter, a selection of authors and works is made. Selected texts are analysed in class.

The student

- gains insight in the diversity of Spanish American short story.

- distinguishes and analyzes the different types of short stories.

- characterizes the texts thematically and formally from a diachronic and synchronic point of view.

- participates in the construction of a digital portfolio related to Spanish American literature.

 

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Oral Exam determines 70% of the final mark.
SELF Practical Assignment determines 30% of the final mark.

Within the Oral Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Oral Exam with a relative weight of 70 which comprises 70% of the final mark.

Within the SELF Practical Assignment category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Practical Assignments with a relative weight of 30 which comprises 30% of the final mark.

Partial grades of the SELF Practical Assignment can be transferred to a later exam session within the same academic year.
