The aim of this course is to familiarize the students with the world of international standardization and regulation. At first it addresses the definition, meaning and impact of standards and regulations:
- What is a standard and what is the difference with a regulation or directive?
- What is the legal scope of these documents?
- Which organizations are responsible for establishing standards and regulations?
- How standards come about?
This knowledge will be explained on the basis of the practical analysis of a number of standards and regulations, essentially concerning the standardization of electric vehicles and their components taken as an example. The exercise will focus on the genesis process of a particular standard, highlighting its evolution.

The students have an overview of the world of standards and regulations and are capable of identifying and interpreting specifically applicable standards of a technical problem.
