Course Content

This course builds further on the Introduction in Social Gerontology. It gains more insight into topics related to research within social gerontology. Next to the theoretical classes, also practical classes will be organized to integrate knowledge of the theoretical classes. By means of gaining insight into the taught classes through scientific papers and research and making an assignment in group the students will gain extra knowledge in social gerontological topics.

Additional info

For every lesson the professor will provide a powerpoint presentation and an additional scientific articles. The teaching classes will work the same. 

Learning Outcomes

General competencies

The course gains insight into different research topics from social gerontology. Besides theoretical classes also practical classes will be organized whereby students will gain insight and knowledge on a specific social gerontological topic together with a group assignment with a presentation as final output resulting in an exam

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Oral Exam determines 80% of the final mark.
LEC Report determines 20% of the final mark.

Within the Oral Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Examen with a relative weight of 80 which comprises 80% of the final mark.

Within the LEC Report category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Verslagen with a relative weight of 20 which comprises 20% of the final mark.

Additional info regarding evaluation

The exam is oral by means of an integrated test whereby scientific knowledge and knowledge on social gerontological topics will be demonstrated in group in class at the end of the semester.
