Course Content

The intensive two-week Summer School on EU Policy Making is held one week in Brussels and one week in Vienna. The week in Brussels emphasises on the various decision-making actors and also looks at the implementation process at national level. In Vienna, a team of experts offers an in-depth knowledge of EU policy making in various fields. Lectures by senior academics are complemented by visits to the Brussels and Vienna-based institutions. Each year, the summer school has an empirical focus on one current political or policy issue.

Each week of the Summer School concludes with a simulation game. Typically, we conduct one in the field of health and safety policy and one in the field of foreign and security policy. Throughout the programme, students do preparatory exercises and are coached and guided towards effectively “playing” these simulation games.
