Course Content

The purpose of this course is to bring students in contact with the theory and practice regarding the management of sports infrastructure. This course is organized in an intensive week at the start of the academic year. This course covers the following topics: planning and realization of sports infrastructure, marketing and exploitation of sports infrastructure, public-private partnerships and financing of sports infrastructure, etc. The content of this course is offered through lectures, guest lectures and study visits. The cases that are discussed and visited are located in Belgium and abroad. The students conduct market research for a self-selected sports infrastructure. This research includes a survey of (potential) customers based on a questionnaire drawn up in Qualtrics. An essential element of the research is the IPA analysis (importance & performance analysis) in which students formulate recommendations for the management of the sports infrastructure.
