Course Content

In the context of sports policy and sports management education, it is important to consider what expertise can add value to society to meet certain needs. We find this expertise in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR, English term) or Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR, Dutch term) in sport. This course covers the topic of CSR in the context of commercial management as well as the management of sports federations (including the organisation of sports events such as the Olympic Games and the FIFA World Cup).

During the lectures, students are introduced to the theoretical principles of CSR. In parallel, students also work (in groups) on practical assignments in which the knowledge is applied. These assignments are assessed mid-term and form part of the final grade for this course. As a final assignment, students make an analysis of an organisation's CSR strategy. This assignment covers e.g. stakeholder mapping, competitive advantage, SDGs, evaluation, ambitions.
