- Course Content
This module is intended to give the student more insight into how the wider role that sport can play in society (and more specifically for people in a socially vulnerable position) can be conceptualised, operationalised and evaluated. To this end, the student will be introduced to the basic principles of 'theory-based evaluation', in which the development of a theory of change/programme theory based on an analytical logical model is central.
- Course material
- Digital course material (Required) :
- Additional info
This module is organised in the form of an 'intensive week'. A high degree of independence is expected for the module.
The module requires 100% compulsory attendance during the intensive week, during the interim presentations and during the presentations at the end of the semester.
- Learning Outcomes
-
Learning Results
Upon completion of this course, the student will:
- have insight into the methodology of 'theory-based evaluation'
- be able to use insights from the scientific literature regarding 'sport-for-development' and 'theory-based evaluation'
- be able to develop an analytical logical model (with fellow students) of a selected practice and present it in a clear way.
- Grading
-
The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
PRAC Teamwork determines 100% of the final mark.
Within the PRAC Teamwork category, the following assignments need to be completed:
- Praktijkopdracht
with a relative weight of 100
which comprises 100% of the final mark.
- Additional info regarding evaluation
The examination during the second examination session consists of an oral exam.
WPO Group work determines 100% of the final grade.
The WPO group work includes the following and is evaluated as follows:
- Evaluation of the group work (visual model with accompanying paper + presentation including Q&A) by the teaching team. This product evaluation by the teaching team determines 50% of the final grade.
- Correction of the individual grade (evaluation of group work by the teaching team) by a peer evaluation via CANVAS. The individual grade is corrected by an individual weighting factor and determines 25% of the final grade. Consequently, the student’s overall score is not necessarily the same for all group members. In case of late completion of the peer evaluation, an adjusted individual weighting factor will be applied.
- Evaluation by the practice organisation concerned based on an evaluation matrix with indicators for both the final product and the co-creative process. This product and process evaluation by the practice organisation concerned determines 25% of the final grade.
The student must have participated in all assignments in order to be assessed. If not, the student will receive ‘absent’ on the evaluation sheet.
- Allowed unsatisfactory mark
- The supplementary Teaching and Examination Regulations of your faculty stipulate whether an allowed unsatisfactory mark for this programme unit is permitted.
