Self study:

Aim: Carry out project in industrial or academic environment on a relevant and timely problem, either individually or in group. Students should be able to conceive, plan and execute a research plan, based on an analysis of its objectives, existing knowledge and the relevant literature. They should be able to interpret the obtained results, and report them in a scientifically correct and comprehensible way to their supervisors. They should be able to discuss and defend the adopted methodology, their results and the conclusions they derive from it.

Emphasis is also put on acquiring insight in the problem by means of asking appropriate questions and acquire knowledge through literature and data source research.

Exam:

Students are evaluated based on quality of their work during the project (effort, independence, ability to understand problem and related filed, initiative), as assessed by their supervisors, as well as by the quality of the written report they should present orally in front of a panel of experts with whom they should also be able to discuss and defend the contents of their report and presentation.
