This course is an introduction to politics and to political science from an intersectional perspective. The course presents the core political concepts and theories. These are discussed and critiqued from an intersectional perspective implying (i) a critical analysis of bias, processes of marginalization and exclusion, and mechanisms of inclusion and privileging in the functioning of politics and political institutions; (ii) a critique of the discipline that studies politics, political actors, institutions and processes. The course zooms in on the relationships of disadvantaged groups with politics and how this differs from dominant privileged groups and moves marginalized voices in political science from the margins to the centre.
