The course is devided in two parts:
Part 1 of the course is about the Neurophysiological aspect of aging.
Content:
1. Organization of the nervous system,
2. neurophysiology,
3. aging-induced changes in the central and peripheral nervous system,
4. aging and mental functions,
5. aging and motor function,
6. aging and sleep
7. aging and sensory systems (vision, smell, taste)
8. aging and urogenital system and cerebrovascular changes
Part 2 deals with Geriatrics and Clinical Gerontology
This part provides an overview of the most important health problems which occur during normal and pathological aging. The various body systems are discussed. The course is intended for non-medical professionals. Emphasis is placed on those aspects that are not strictly in the realm of medical treatment, such as prevention by diet and exercise.

For part 1; Neurophysiological aspects of ageing, have knowledge on:
- the basics of neurosciences
- the effects of aging on the nervous system and neuromuscular system
- main neurological diseases (dementia, Parkinson's disease)
The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Written Exam determines 100% of the final mark.
Within the Written Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:
Evaluation by means of a written exam.
This course offer isn't part of a fixed set of graduation requirements. Hence, it is a free elective.
