Inhoud

This course will present examples and discuss private sector contributions in support of:

  • U.S. diplomacy
  • The intelligence community
  • National defense
  • The Economy

Students will review case studies of the public-private partnership within industry specific categories such as:

  • The High-tech, IT industry
  • The Energy Sector
  • Banking and Finance
  • STEM
  • Multinationals and Foreign Investment in the U.S.

Particular attention will be given to understanding the various opportunities for prudent statecraft to advance the public-private partnership and to secure the nation.

General competences

The aim of this course is to introduce students to the extensive and indispensable relationship between the private sector and those elements of the U.S. government responsible for the nation’s security. This relationship is referred to today as the ‘Public-Private Partnership’. Students will examine the crucial public-private partnership and how it has evolved, especially since World War II, as well as the sometimes competing and even conflicting interests that have emerged in an ever-globalizing world.

A broader and deeper understanding of the public-private partnership will prepare tomorrow’s strategic thinkers to operate more effectively on a global scale.
