Course Content

Lectures (2 ECTS)

  • Introduction
  • Electrical safety
  • Electrical safety - exercise: fault current in stimulation implants
  • Biopotential amplifiers – advanced designs
  • Stimulation of excitable tissues
  • Cardiac pacemakers
  • Implanted stimulation and recording devices

The group project aims to build an embedded bioelectronics systems (3 ECTS). Typical design steps include:

  • General design of the system
  • Electronic circuit implementation: design, layout (Altium), manufacture, debugging
  • Firmware implementation and debugging
  • Silicone encapsulation
  • System testing
