Course Content

The students learn all aspects about the responsibilities of an authorized Medical Physicist or Medical Physics Expert, including quality control, dosimetry optimization and risk assessment.

The students will be gradualyy involved in the different topics related to radiotherapy from passive observation to active participation, with the aim to be able to independently perform all the tasks required from a medical physicist in the domain radiotherapy.

The following items will be covered:




  • Basic dosimetry and independent dose calculation


  • Treatment planning and dose calculation


  • Warm up of treatment machines and dailty QA


  • Image-guidance and QA of IGRT


  • Special techniques: IMRT, radiosurgery, stereotactic body radiotherapy, TBI, brachytherapy


  • Dosimetry techniques and use of waterphantoms and detectors


  • QA and QC procedures


  • Accepatnce procedures


  • Monthly and yearly QA


  • QA of disometry equipment


  • QA of treatment planning systems
