In this course it is investigated in which manner the disciplines of literary theory contribute to the analysis of literary texts and the various methods are assessed with regard to their applicability in text analysis exercises.
This course is taught in French. A course textbook is available at the beginning of the course.

The students can apply literary theory.
The students are able to recognize, identify, explain and apply the theory upon examples seen in the course and unseen examples.
The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Oral Exam determines 100% of the final mark.

Remarks
- The course consists in the analysis of a literary text. The students are made aware during the course on the necessary knowledge and interpretation skills, but also on the applications of the literary theory.
- In the beginning of the examination, the student may choose a textfragment.
- The examination consists in main questions and in supplementary questions.
- Knowledge is of course examined, but also the interpretation aptitude (example: "put in your own words" + oral examination), and the application aptitude (through examples that confirm the acquisition of knowledge and the aptitude of interpretation and through the evaluation of the language (French + oral examination).
- The level of the language proficiency (French) corresponds to the level that was determined by TALK for Ba 3.
