Course Content

In this course it is investigated in which manner different theoritical disciplines contribute to the analysis of literary texts and intermedial art, and in which manner their various methods are assessed with regard to their applicability in text analysis exercises.

Learning Outcomes

General competencies

The students can apply theory to literary texts and intermedial art.

The students are able to recognize, identify, explain and apply the theory upon examples seen in the course and unseen examples.

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Oral Exam determines 100% of the final mark.

Within the Oral Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Examen Mondeling _ open vragen with a relative weight of 80 which comprises 100% of the final mark.

    Note: De docent houdt op het examen rekening met de taalkennis, overeenstemmend met het taalverwervingsniveau dat verwacht wordt verworven te zijn, en sanctioneert fouten wanneer deze zich voordoen. Het verwachte taalkennisniveau, en het daaraan gekoppelde aantal en type van aanvaardbare taalfouten, varieert uiteraard naargelang het studiejaar.

- The course consists in the analysis of a literary text. The students are made aware during the course on the necessary knowledge and interpretation skills, but also on the applications of the literary theory.

- In the beginning of the examination, the student may choose a textfragment.

- The examination consists in main questions and in supplementary questions.

- Knowledge is of course examined, but also the interpretation aptitude (example: "put in your own words" + oral examination), and the application aptitude (through examples that confirm the acquisition of knowledge and the aptitude of interpretation and through the evaluation of the language (French + oral examination).

- The level of the language proficiency (French) corresponds to the level that was determined by TALK for Ba 3.
