Learning Outcomes

Objectives

In terms of writing skills, students work towards level C1 of the European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Based on Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, https://rm.coe.int/CoERMPublicCommonSearchServices/DisplayDCTMContent?documentId=0900001680459f97

This entails they can produce clear, well-structured, detailed texts on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organizational patterns, connectors, and cohesive devices.

Upon successful completion of the course, students can
  • communicate effectively in a French medium that is adapted to context, genre, audience, and communicative goal(s);
write, adapt, and summarize French texts in a way that is appropriate to context, genre, audience, and communicative goal(s).

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Written Exam determines 70% of the final mark.
Other Exam determines 30% of the final mark.

Within the Written Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Schriftelijk examen with a relative weight of 70 which comprises 70% of the final mark.

Within the Other Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Permanente evaluatie with a relative weight of 30 which comprises 30% of the final mark.

Additional info regarding evaluation

Students will need to successfully pass all parts of the course: viz. the permanent evaluation and the written exam. If a student has passed all parts of the course, the final mark in the first examination session will correspond to the total average of all parts. If a student scores less than 10/20 for at least one part of the course, the lowest mark obtained will be entered as final mark. In that case, an oral exam (permanent evaluation) and/or a written exam will be held in the second examination session for all parts for which the student scored less than 10/20 during the first examination session. The final mark in the second examination session will correspond to the total average of the part for which the student may have passed in the first examination period and the part(s) for which an oral exam and/or a written exam was held during the second session. If a student again scores less than 10/20 for at least one part of the course, the lowest mark obtained will be entered as final mark.

For each assessment component, the course instructor will explicitly indicate the permissibility of using generative AI or MT tools, specifying whether its usage is prohibited, limited to certain extents, or fully permitted. Non-compliance with these specifications will be considered academic fraud and penalized accordingly.

Allowed unsatisfactory mark
The supplementary Teaching and Examination Regulations of your faculty stipulate whether an allowed unsatisfactory mark for this programme unit is permitted.
