Course Content

This course aims at sharpening the skills to communicate effectively in German in an number of specific fields of communication. After a short theoretical introduction, students will actively engage in a series of practice-oriented assignments.

Final Competences

  • The students develop and extend their knowledge of useful phrases and expressions that are commonly used in the field of various specific professional communication situations. [Knowledge]

Objectives

The aiml of this module is for the students to acquire skills in current German-language communication for specific purposes.

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Written Exam determines 40% of the final mark.
Other Exam determines 60% of the final mark.

Within the Written Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • written exam with a relative weight of 40 which comprises 40% of the final mark.

    Note: Written Exam with a relative weight of 40 which comprises 40% of the finel mark. Note: In the second examination session this will count for 100%

Within the Other Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • other exam with a relative weight of 60 which comprises 60% of the final mark.

    Note: Continuous Evaluation with a relative weight of 60 which comprises 60% of the final mark. Note: Outside the examination, lapses for the second examination session.

Additional info regarding evaluation

A student cannot pass this module if he/she obtains an 8/20 or less for (1) the written exam or (2) the permanent evaluation (= writing assignments and possible speaking assignments in the course of the semester.
