Je moet geslaagd zijn voor Onderzoeksmethodologie en je moet minstens 108 stp. behaald hebben in de bachelor voor je de bachelorpaper kan opnemen. Je moet daarnaast de bachelorpaper steeds samen opnemen met Nederlands Communicatieve vaardigheden III. Neem de bachelorpaper pas op in het jaar waarin je wil afstuderen.

Course Content

The Bachelor paper is thematically linked to one (or several) of the BA1, BA2 or BA3 course modules. It contains the following elements:

  • a presentation of the research question(s) and delineation of the subject;
  • a description of the research method(s) used;
  • a critical discussion of the findings;
  • an appropriate conclusion;
  • a full list of the sources used;
  • two abstracts, one in the language of the thesis, the other in Dutch or the other foreign language, each not exceeding 200 words;a table of contents.

Learning Outcomes

Doelstellingen

The bachelor paper offers the student an opportunity to demonstrate that he or she has acquired the skills and knowledge necessary to tackle a subject in Applied Linguistics in a scientific and critical manner, under supervision. The bachelor paper should also demonstrate an awareness of recent developments in the field studied, as well as provide evidence that the student is able to produce a scientific text in accordance with academic style and conventions.

 

Eindcompetenties

The successful student

  • can write an academic text in Dutch or in a foreign language;
  • can use appropriate search strategies;
  • can formulate a suitable research question, under supervision, about a subject in the field of applied linguistics, and develop appropriate research methods and techniques to address this research question;
  • can draw up a suitable conclusion on the basis of the gathered findings;
  • can critically reflect on the work carried out;

can apply the knowledge and understanding he/she has gained in Applied Linguistics when tackling a subject in the field.

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Other Exam determines 100% of the final mark.

Within the Other Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Bachelor paper with a relative weight of 100 which comprises 100% of the final mark.
