Course Content

Tasks will be completed in agreement with the professional organization or research lab and the Department of Biology. Tasks are related to the field of Biology and give a realistic view of the daily activities and conditions of the professional environment and work floor. A  period of 40 days (12 credits) or 80 days (30 credits) can be filled-in for the internship.  A supervisor  of the university will be appointed for each student, as well as a local supervisor.

Additional info

Direct practical experience, including communication and social attitude. The expenses for daily transport are on the account of the student.

Learning Outcomes

General competencies

After completion of the internship, the students will have experience in a professional environment. They will have competences in evaluating the scientific and societal relevance (ECM2), reporting and social communication (ECM3), problem-solving and insight in real working situation  (ECM4).

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
SELF Internship determines 100% of the final mark.

Within the SELF Internship category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Internship report with a relative weight of 1 which comprises 50% of the final mark.

    Note: The supervisor (of the university) is responsible for the evaluation of the student, in close cooperation with the local supervisor. The evaluation is based on a report of activities, written by the student (internship report) and a report on the daily activities and attitude on the work floor, written by the local supervisor.
  • Activities & attitude with a relative weight of 1 which comprises 50% of the final mark.
