Je hebt ‘Taal- en vertaalpraktijk Frans-Nederlands II’ gevolgd, alvorens dit vak op te nemen. Dit vak opnemen houdt in dat je gelijktijdig ‘Français: langue et culture’ volgt of reeds geslaagd bent voor 'Français: langue et culture’​. Zit je in een verkort traject dan kan je dit vak gewoon opnemen.

Course Content

Different types of exercises  (sight translation, whispering and memory training) are used to determine whether or not the student qualifies for the Master in Interpretation; Foreign language acquisition aspects also occur. Specific attention is given to the correct use of Dutch.

Students having Dutch in their language combination, automatically have to take the course 'Introduction to interpreting' in the other language of their combination, either German, English, French, Italian or Spanish. .

In order to take this class, compulsory additional costs will be charged next to the invoice sent to you as a student by the Student Administration Centre: for study material (photocopies) a minimum contribution of  € 5 and a maximum contribution of € 25 will be required. The costs are borne by the student and can neither be passed on to fellow students nor recovered from the lecturer or faculty. The amounts stated are approximately correct.

Students perform listening and oral exercises (e.g. paraphrasing, sight translation, oral summary and consecutive interpreting, public speaking) and gradually develop their interpreting skills and oral proficiency.  They get acquainted with note-taking techniques for consecutive interpreting and with the professional contexts of interpreting.

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Written Exam determines 40% of the final mark.
Other determines 60% of the final mark.

Within the Written Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Written exam with a relative weight of 40 which comprises 40% of the final mark.

Within the Other category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Permanent evaluation with a relative weight of 60 which comprises 60% of the final mark.
