Course Content

This course will focus on the presence and the function of multilingualism in literary works. The main types of literary multilingualism and code switching will be discussed.

More specifically the following topics will be treated:
- historical overview of multilingualism in Western literature
- internal and external multilingualism
- creative multilingualism as a form of literary innovation
- multilingualism in migrant literature

- students can critically analyze primary texts while applying the above-mentioned concepts and theories

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Oral Exam determines 50% of the final mark.
SELF Presentation determines 50% of the final mark.

Within the Oral Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Oral Exam with a relative weight of 100 which comprises 50% of the final mark.

Within the SELF Presentation category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • presentation with a relative weight of 100 which comprises 50% of the final mark.

Participation to the oral exam is possible only after the submission of the individual presentation.

Students must participate in all parts of the evaluation process in order to pass the course. Absence of a mandatory part of the evaluation leads to an absence as a final result.
