Learning Outcomes

General competences

  • The student has acquired a number of experimental skills: the usage of an analytical scale, the preparation and dilution of a solution, the correct usage of glassware, estimation of experimental error, usage of the pH-meter.
  • The student is able to prepare solutions with the requested accuracy.
  • The student can write down experimental conditions for problems that are analogous to those encountered during the practicals.
  • The student has a correct lab attitude in terms of execution, group- and individual work and safety hazards in the inorganic lab.
  • The student is able to compute experimental data and can communicate his/her results as a written scientific report.
  • The student is familiar with the practical aspects of titrations in general and a number of relevant redox, acid-base and solubility titrations in particular.
  • The student can correctly prepare a buffer.
  • The student possesses basic skills in monitoring the progress of a reaction.
  • The student understands the practical aspects of qualitative analyses in inorganic chemistry.

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Written Exam determines 37% of the final mark.
Practical Exam determines 13% of the final mark.
PRAC Lab Work determines 50% of the final mark.

Within the Written Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Examen Schriftelijk with a relative weight of 37 which comprises 37% of the final mark.

Within the Practical Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Examen Praktijk with a relative weight of 13 which comprises 13% of the final mark.

Within the PRAC Lab Work category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • WPO labowerk with a relative weight of 50 which comprises 50% of the final mark.
