Offer 1 with catalog number 1021481BNR for all students in the 1st and 2nd semester at a (B) Bachelor - advanced level.
The internship mainly focuses on the fifth educational pillar of the VUB: preparing students for their professional career. During this internship, students have the opportunity to become acquainted with and gain experience in the practice of the agoog. Through the internship, students develop and acquire professional competences in addition to academic competences. Also, the internship preparation, the internship itself and the internship portfolio encourage students to consciously reflect on their own development. This promotes self-knowlegde and critical thinking skills.
Students search for a suitable internship organisation where an independent 'agogisch' project/trajectory is set up/carried out. The duration of the internship is 480 hours. This gives students the opportunity to test their own abilities, explore the professional field and develop specific interests.
More information on the internship is made available to students via the electronic learning platform Canvas. This information is also disseminated during a WPO in the academic year prior to the internship.
The internship portfolio may be written in a language other than Dutch upon the student's request and with the approval of the titular holder.
If the student is working in the professional field of the ‘agoog', the student may carry out the internship within the organisation where the student is employed, on condition that the internship is performed outside the normal range of tasks and working hours of the professional activity. The suitability of the organisation and the modalities under which the internship would be carried out must be assessed and approved in advance by the titular holder. In addition, the organisation concerned must agree to provide the necessary internship guidance.

The final internship portfolio must be submitted to the internship VUB coach no later than one month after the last active internship day (mentioned in the internship agreement; any change to this must be submitted in advance to the internship VUB coach). Submitting the portfolio after this deadline or not submitting the portfolio and the evaluation forms, or performing less than 480 hours of internship, or not having a final evaluation interview with the internship VUB coach, will result in an 'Absent' as an overall grade for the first exam period. The student will automatically be referred to the second exam period. The deadline for submitting the internship portfolio in the second exam period is 19 August.
The internship itself (480 hours) cannot be retaken in the second exam period. Only in exceptional cases and with the explicit consent of the internship VUB coach, it is possible to perform internship hours after the deadline of the first exam period.
